I'm Going to Make a Friend

Moving into a new neighbourhood, our narrator wonders, Will the new children like how I play? Will they give me space when I’m quiet? With hopeful curiosity, they begin building a “friend” out of junk materials, imagining their traits, needs and quirks. Through laughter, uncertainty, and bravery, the story shows how friendship is both made and discovered. 

This gentle, imaginative tale is a celebration of connection, vulnerability and the courage to reach out. At Big Heart Book Club, we believe friendship is one of the most beautiful acts of love and that children deserve stories that reflect the courage it takes to open a heart to a new friend.
