Jake doesn’t expect his holiday to be extraordinary, after being excluded from his school club, he spends his break working in his mum’s bank and notices something strange through the window, a girl living in a locked attic room above the city.  He soon discovers Laine and a hidden community of displaced families living in the shadows of the rooftops, intertwined with a secret invention that could change everything.
