Win a Year's Supply of Books

About the Competition

We're delighted to invite individuals and schools to take part in our competition to Win a Year's Supply of Books, created to inspire a love of reading and storytelling ahead of the UK's 2026 National Year of Reading. The competition encourages children to write and submit their own stories, celebrating creativity, imagination and literacy.

Competition Categories & Themes

This activity is designed to be simple and enjoyable writing activity for children to do before Christmas.

Teachers and parents can submit stories from the following age group categories:

  • Reception & Years 1 & 2
  • Years 3 & 4
  • Years 5 & 6

There will be one winning writer from each of these three categories. We would like to receive stories that are inspired by one or more of the following themes: Dreams, Love, Strength or Kindness

How It Works

  • Children write their own original story.
  • Parents and teachers can submit as many stories as they wish.
  • Submissions must be sent by email or WhatsApp as clear photographs by 20 December 2025.
  • Please include teacher or parents contact details so we can get in touch if a child is selected as a winner.
  • One school prize will be awarded based on a prize draw with every class involved gaining one entry.
  • Winners will be announced in the new year on Instagram.

Prizes For the winning writer in each age group:

A new book, delivered monthly, through our book subscription service, and their very own Big Heart bookshelf.

For the winning school:

Our Top 10 Books of the Year, celebrating diversity, inclusion, peace and representation for the class library.
